THE BIBLE FAITH REMNANT

B.F.R. (the Bible Faith Remnant) was formed in 1999 by siblings Moses, Lillie, and Marvin, along with Marvin’s wife, Rebecca. Before officially starting the group, they had been singing and playing instruments since they were kids. Their father, the founder and pastor of Bible Faith Church Int’l in Oakland, CA, kept the family deeply involved in church life. Since then, they’ve performed across numerous counties in California, visited churches in other states, and shared their music at churches, events, fairs, and festivals.
To describe this band in one word would be “unconventional”. The instrumentation, the arrangements, and the stage presentation all defy expectations. B.F.R. carries forward a vibrant gospel lineage: following Johann Sebastian Bach, whose sacred compositions elevated worship through masterful classical expression; Thomas Dorsey, who blended spirituals and blues into the foundation of modern gospel; Sam Cooke, who brought soul’s heartfelt energy and crossover appeal; and Andrae Crouch, who bridged traditional and contemporary gospel sounds for new generations. In this living tradition, B.F.R. will CHANGE conventions, traditions, and customs while keeping the pure Gospel message completely intact. Here, musical instruments from around the globe are woven together in obedience to the Psalms’ command: “Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord!”
Following the Apostle Paul’s lead, this group is becoming all things to all men so that they may save some. After a B.F.R. concert, audiences often leave with renewed hope, a deeper sense of unity, and a fresh inspiration to pursue their faith. Through their music and message, listeners experience spiritual encouragement that connects directly to the mission of saving and uplifting lives.

B.F.R. Bio

Using just one word to describe a band is usually challenging, but with B.F.R., it is easy. That one word is “unconventional.” Their adventurous repertoire breaks new ground. The instrumentation, the arrangements, and the stage presentation all defy expectations. In the spirit of Johann Sebastian Bach, Thomas Dorsey, Sam Cooke, and Andrae Crouch, this band will CHANGE conventions, traditions, and customs while keeping the pure Gospel message completely intact. Here, musical instruments from around the globe are woven together in obedience to the Psalms’ command: “Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord!”
Following the Apostle Paul’s lead, this group is becoming all things to all men so that they may save some. Their freshman CD, “Some West Coast Praise,” employed a variety of musical styles to create a work palatable to a wide range of musical tastes. Rather than reinforcing walls, B.F.R. seeks to remove barriers—both musical and social. Whether performing jazz-inflected hymns, energetic gospel anthems, or soulful ballads, the Bible Faith Remnant never disappoints when ministering live. The versatile, seasoned singers, along with accomplished musicians, delight audiences across nearly every demographic, and their dynamic performances foster connection and joy.
Consequently, the band participated in the Ethnic Dance Festival.  B.F.R. was the first Christian group to play at this prestigious festival in its 32-year history. From ministering at the Japantown Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco to blending Gospel harmonies with the artistic voices of other cultures, B.F.R. bridges worlds and genres. Their collaborations spark new conversations about faith and art. Each appearance extends a Kingdom-minded invitation: What new vision of worship is possible with the timeless message of Christ? These moments are about more than music; they create cultural exchange, transcend boundaries, and unite people through the shared joy of worship.
The word “unconventional” comes to mind again. This is proving to be an exhilarating year for B.F.R. With the upcoming self-titled project, the band is coming into full bloom. They are receiving exposure from a spectrum of new venues, collaborating with diverse artists, and drawing in new audiences. The excitement and anticipation are palpable—and only God knows how far things will develop for the Bible Faith Remnant!

highlights the changes that take place when one comes to Christ. A whole new perspective comes with the aid of God’s Holy Spirit, and our goal; is to allow the love of Christ to be apparent in all that we say, think and do. [Col. 3:16].
